Florida DUI Defense Attorney :: Rapper Kat Dahlia Busted for DUI and Resisting Arrest in Miami Beach

August 1, 2013

Miami-bred rapper Kat Dahlia was arrested on charges of DUI and resisting arrest without violence early Tuesday in Miami Beach, according to reports.

Dahlia, whose real name is Katriana Huguet, was arrested around 3:30 a.m., according to police. She was being held on $2,000 bond early Tuesday morning.

According to the arrest affidavit, a Miami Beach police officer spotted Dahlia speeding southbound on Alton Road in a Nissan Altima with the headlights off. She was allegedly travelling at speeds of 50 mph in a 30 mph zone when she was pulled over.

As the officer approached the car, a strong odor of alcohol was detected from the car, the affidavit said. The arresting officer noted that Dahlia had blood shot eyes and her speech was heavily slurred when she handed her driver’s license over.

The officer then asked Dahlia to exit the car, but she allegedly said she couldn’t because she was wearing a bathing suit. The officer told her to cover up and she eventually exited the vehicle.

Reports indicate that Dahlia leaned on the car for support after she got out, then became argumentative with the officer after he asked her to perform a series of field sobriety tests.

The arrest affidavit claims that Dahlia told the officer, “You only assume I might be drunk because I forgot to turn my headlights on and I’m a speeder.”

Dahlia allegedly cursed at the officer and refused to perform the DUI tests.

The affidavit states that when the officer told Dahlia she was under arrest she refused to put her hands behind her back and tensed her arms in front of her body. She apparently told the officer he could not arrest her.

The officer then forced her to place her hands behind her back and placed her in handcuffs. Dahlia refused to answer any questions at the police station.

Dahlia, who is Cuban-American, turned 23 on Monday.
