Pasco County Auto Accident Lawyer :: One Teen Killed, another Critically Injured in Single Vehicle Pasco Crash

Two teenagers, both 19, were involved in a serious accident early Saturday morning on State Road 54 and Oakstead Boulevard.

The teen males were travelling down SR-54 in a Toyota Celica around 3 a.m. when the driver lost control of the car. The vehicle apparently flipped several times as it exited the roadway.

The male passenger was ejected from the car during the accident. According to reports, he suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was taken to Saint Joseph’s Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
It is unknown at this time what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

When you are involved in a single-vehicle collision, this does not necessarily mean that the accident is your fault. Someone else could actually to be to blame, and you may be able to seek financial compensation for your injuries and losses.

The most frequent causes of loss of control behind the wheel usually involve one of the following:

Hydroplaning – Drivers involved in hydroplane accidents are often the victims of negligence and just fail to realize it. When a road is constructed properly, hydroplaning accidents should not occur. Water should not build up on the road, instead, it should drain to the side. When water builds up on a road causing a vehicle to hydroplane, those responsible for the road’s construction and maintenance could be found responsible for the auto accident and any personal injuries or wrongful death that result.

Road Construction – Construction zones are everywhere throughout Pasco County. Contractors must set up construction zones so that they do not pose a safety hazard to motorists and construction workers. Sadly, many traffic crashes take place in work zones that result in severe personal injuries and even deaths. Accidents that occur in these areas can be caused by lack of warning signs, improper placement of cones and barriers and a slew of other problems. If an auto accident happens in a work zone or construction area, careless construction companies may be held liable for damages.

Vehicle Defects – Vehicles with defective parts or cars that are manufactured or designed improperly, can cause single-car collisions. If an automobile has defective brakes and steering mechanisms, this can lead to an unexpected loss of control. Rollovers are often caused by defective tires. When a tragic accident is the result of a vehicle defect, designers, manufacturers, and sellers of these cars can be held accountable for their negligence.

Single vehicle auto accidents can be complex as determining liability can be difficult. A Pasco County Auto Accident Attorney at Whittel & Melton can help pursue compensation for auto accident victims of single-car collisions.
