Teavana Recalls Glass Tea Tumblers Due to Burn Injury Hazard

Teavana RecallsTeavana Corporation recently issued a voluntary recall on nearly 47,000 Glass Tea Tumblers after incidents of burns and lacerations were reported.

The glass tea tumblers sold at Teavana stores across the United States and online are prone to breaking, which can severely injure unsuspecting consumers.

An estimated 445,000 glass tea tumblers were distributed throughout the U.S., and another 24, 850 in Canada. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, there have been at least 302 reports of glass tea tumblers shattering, causing injuries such as abrasions, scrapes and burns to the fingers, legs and toes. At least six of the reported injuries occurred due to the glass breaking while in use.

The glass tea tumblers included in this recall were sold from August 2007 through May 2013 in color-coordinated packages or as part of a tea gift set costing between $15 and $33. Packages that contain SKU numbers or UPC codes are the tumblers being recalled. Consumers can find the item numbers on the sticker attached to the bottom of the package.

Those who have purchased the glass tea tumblers issued in the recall should stop using the products immediately and return them to a Teavana store location for a free replacement with complimentary gift or refund. Consumers may also contact the company to receive a pre-paid mailer to return the recalled glass tea tumblers for no charge.

For further information about the recall, consumers may contact Teavana toll-free at (877) 261-1509. Consumers may also visit www.Teavana.com and click on “Glass Tumbler Recall.”
