Personal Injury and Wrongful Death Claims
This week, August 4-10, is National Stop On Red Week. In an attempt to promote safer driving practices, the National Campaign to Stop Red Light Running started Stop on Red Week in 2001 and has continued it every year since.
We have all had those days where we have been in a hurry to get somewhere. Regardless of the reason, when drivers are running late they tend to speed up at intersections to beat the red light. So, what is the big problem with running a red light?
You might be surprised to find out that red light running is the leading cause of urban auto accidents. In fact, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, one out of every three people knows someone who was killed in a red light collision. Red light crashes result in more than 900 deaths and 165,000 injuries every year.
Fifty-six percent of American drivers have admitted to running red lights, according to a survey conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Being in a hurry is the number one reason drivers speed through red lights. And while two out of every three Americans will see a driver run a red light today, the truth is many Dunnellon drivers do not realize just how dangerous it is to run a red light.
Running a red light may shorten your commute by several minutes, but stopping at a red light can save your life. As Citrus County Auto Accident Injury Lawyers, we urge you to exercise caution when driving so that we can stop Dunnellon red light crashes.
The following tips can help keep you and everyone else on the road safe:
