News: Miami-Dade Officer Hospitalized After T-Bone Collision in Hialeah

HIALEAH, FL - A Miami-Dade Schools police officer was hospitalized after another driver collided with him in an intersection Thursday afternoon.
According to Local 10, the collision took place near the intersection of West Okeechobee Road and West 18th Avenue sometime before 1 p.m. The driver of a white Dodge Challenger T-boned a marked police vehicle that was passing through the intersection on its way to a medical emergency.
Rescue crews pulled the officer from his vehicle and airlifted him to the hospital in stable condition.
While the Challenger sustained significant front-end damage, the driver was treated at the scene for what appear to be only minor injuries.
Police were still investigating the crash when the story was published.
The east and westbound lanes of Okeechobee Road are closed. All travel lanes have reopened since.
