MIAMI GARDENS, FL - A 7-year-old girl was hospitalized after she was bitten by a dog in a neighborhood in Lake Lucerne Wednesday.
The incident occurred after 6:45 p.m. on the 3800 block of NW 207th St., WSVN reported.
The girl was playing outside and went inside a neighbor’s yard. That is when a dog (from another house on the block) got loose. The dog chased the girl and bit her.
The little girl sustained injuries to her leg and thigh and was airlifted to Joe DiMaggio’s Children’s Hospital. The girl got stitches and is recovering at home.
In an update from the initial source, the dog’s owner, Norbeto Pass, has apologized to the girl and her family and surrendered the dog - a male - to Miami-Dade Animal Services.
Miami Dade Animal Services has opened an investigation into the situation.
