News: 5 Hospitalized, 1 Killed in 8-Car Crash in Miami
June 15, 2023
MIAMI, FL - A Tesla driver lost his life, and five people were sent to a hospital after an eight-vehicle collision on I-95 near Northwest 62nd Street after 2 a.m. Thursday.
Local 10 said the collision was prompted when the Tesla driver, for reasons unclear, lost control of his car and crashed into a concrete barrier wall. Shortly after, a driver of a black Dodge sedan hit the Tesla, leading the Tesla driver to be thrown from his vehicle. The Tesla motorist came to rest on the road. The driver of a white Nissan tried to avoid hitting the Tesla driver but was then struck by a Chevy SUV.
When the SUV and Nissan made contact, that push caused the vehicles to run over the Tesla motorist.
Five other vehicles had minor collisions of their own.
The Tesla driver, a person only identified as a black man, was killed at the scene. Five occupants were hospitalized at Jackson Memorial Hospital for serious and moderate injuries.
Four other occupants refused to be taken to a hospital.
